Research Summary and Ethical Considerations Introduction A pressure ulcer is a localized injury to the skin and/ or underlying tissue usually over a bony prominence, as a result of pressure or pressure in combination with shear and/ or friction. (National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel, 2007). It is essential to give education to the patients, family, care givers and health care providers to decrease the pressure ulcer rate. Multiple study about pressure ulcer revealed that pressure ulcer causes significant harm to the patients by increasing the length of stay in the hospital due to frequent pain, discomfort, infection and poor healing. The infection and sepsis occur from pressure ulcer can even lead to death. However, pressure ulcers†¦show more content†¦The study highlighted that operation theatre, critical care unit and emergency care unit are the most high risk places for the development of pressure ulcer. Factors connected to the health care personnel are views and values, responsibility and commitment, knowledge and competence and co-operation and communication. The personnels view of their work was seen as one reason for the development of pressure ulcer. (Athlin et al. 2010). In a hospital situation the main care focuses to treat the disease whereas in the communities care focused on prevention and basic pressure ulcer care. Responsibility and commitment of the nurses can prevention of pressure sore to certain extend. It is the responsibility of the Registered nurse is to assess for risk factors, prevention of pressure ulcers. Nurse should show an interest in their work especially to take the patient’s total care in order to prevent pressure sore. Nurses should constantly update their knowledge and implement evidence based practice in their care. They need to educate the patients, families and other health care providers about the measures to prevent bedsore. Rabbit is a brainless guy whose career as a high school basketball star peaked at age 18. In his wifes view, he was, before their early, hasty marriage, already drifting downhill. We meet him for the first time in this novel, when he is 22, and a salesman in the local department store. Now before I begin this tale remember this happened several years ago and I was maybe 11 years old. I was visiting my grandmother’s house and at the time there wasn’t anyone around to play with. With no one around to play with I decided to go over to the house of a friend that I made in a previous visit.It was ridiculously hot outside that day, so hot that I could crack an egg and put some bacon on the asphalt and it would fry just like it would on a stove. With it being so hot outside, I decided to forgo walking, and began to look for an alternate way to get there. From the look of just the chain and the cycling gear alone its once silver finish now stained red-orange with rust. It did not look like it would be of use. Despite my earlier observations and common sense telling me not to even get on the bike, I decided to use it to get to my friend’s house. To my surprise the pedals actually moved and it didn’t immediately come apart under me.Even though the bike worked and held my weight, it was still hard and felt like was riding through 2 feet of molasses instead of on pavement. I rode the bike for about ten minutes until I arrived at my friend’s house. I looked around at the front yard of his house to see it had been unmanaged but sometimes yards get like that because of where one lives. I walked up to the door and knocked; waited about 3 minutes for someone to come to the door when I looked over and saw a for sale sign up. I guess they moved since last time I was here; I should have called first.Dejected, I got back on the bike to head back to grandma’s house; that was when the trouble started. I rode for maybe two minutes when I heard a snap and felt extreme pain in my leg, I fell off my bike. Despite the pain I was in the first thing I did when I got my bearings was to look at the bike to see what happened. It was the chain; it had broken. Once I knew what happened I looked at my leg and saw that my socks were stained red with blood and followed the blood trail up my leg to where the pain was really coming from.It was a very deep cut, like one you would see if someone was stabbed with a large knife and pulled it out. It was bleeding pretty badly and I tried to stand up to walk but the pain was too great and I fell to the ground again. As I was thinking on what I could do to get back to grandma’s house, a man came out of the house that I was in front of to solve that problem for me, he said that he heard the scream that I made as I fell. He called my grandma and she took me to the hospital where I got stiches put in to close the wound.There were a lot of things that I could have done to prevent this injury from happening: call ahead to see if my friend was home or even still lived there, walked there instead of using the bike, not go because I was supposed to be visiting my grandma, and tell my grandma where I w as going so when I got hurt she would know where I was. One of the most important things that I could have done was use my common sense and not gotten on that bike when I saw that it was heavily rusted.
